Every year same story.
The stems of the vines grow.
They begin slowly and as nights get warmer, they grow longer. Faster.
Around the time of the flowers - right now - it is usually about time to cut the tops.
This is one of the few tasks that are not manual.
The vines know how to strike back though.
When we cut the top of the stems, they do not grow any longer.
Instead they begin to grow from the sides. We are not very happy about these new stems since they do not carry any grapes.
We cut these stems with scissors that are placed in front of the tractor. However they can only reach the upper share which leaves us the rest to cut...
...well... uhm... manually.
